WHAT IS KÄSPAIKKA
- VIRTUAL CRAFT PLACE?

In the end of the year 2000 Finland's National Board of Education (NBE) launched the Virtual School in Basic Education - development program. As a part of it the Finnish craft education teachers started creating this Virtual classroom for craft education = Käspaikka. It was published on November 19, 2001.

Käspaikka - Virtual Craft Place is open to everybody. All the materials can be used freely for educational and research purposes.

WHAT WAS BEFORE KÄSPAIKKA?

In 1996 ca 150 teachers for textiles and craft education created the Know-How-Box for handicrafts (Käsityön TietoBoxi) which was the predecessor to Käspaikka. Most of the www -documents in Know-How-Box were results from the www -producer courses for textile teachers held at Turku TOP -center.
Know-How-Box had 450 www-documents when it was merged into Käspaikka in November, 2001.
